Zimbabwe has been elected deputy chair of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Cabinet has announced.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told Tuesday’s post- Cabinet briefing that: “The country will be represented by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Power Development, Eng Gloria Magombo.
“The organisation is currently being chaired by Japan.”
IRENA plays a leading role in the energy transformation as a centre of excellence for knowledge and innovation.
The organisation, which has 164 members, is a leading global voice for renewable energy and a source of advice and support for countries.
