NEW: Zimbabwe prison officers urged to be professional

THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu has challenged prison officers to remain professional and execute their duties diligently.

Speaking during a recent pass-out parade of 202 officers at Shamva Battle Camp, the CG Chihobvu noted the institution was a crucial part of the country’s justice system.

“I urge the graduating officers to always remember the great responsibility they bear, excel in their chosen path, remain vigilant and always uphold the honour and dignity of their profession as correctional officers,” he said.

He also expressed concern over drug and substance abuse.

“Drug and substance abuse is a scourge that continues to wreak havoc in our country with the youth being the worst affected group.

“I, therefore, strongly advise you to abstain from such acts as doing so surely has a negative impact on our careers.”
