THE Government is putting in place measures to ensure that fish production meets national demand of 60 000 tonnes per year.

Currently, production has risen to 15 000 tonnes per year.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail Online, Buy Zimbabwe chairperson Mr Munyaradzi Hwengere said the fish farming industry still has room to grow.

“Current production is about 15 000 tonnes against an estimated demand of 60 000 tonnes,” he said.

“We need to start from the basics, securing quality fingerlings, managing feed costs and improving marketing and organisational structures.”
