NEW: Zimbabwe to open embassy in Seychelles

Online Reporter

Zimbabwe will soon open an embassy in Seychelles to deepen bilateral relations that date back to 1987.

Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to South Africa Mr David Hamadziripi last week submitted his credentials to Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan.

Ambassador Hamadziripi will be based in Pretoria, where he will oversee embassies in South Africa and Seychelles.

“Zimbabwe is also a very attractive tourism destination, we offer a different package altogether but we can benefit from your experience in marketing, training and other related areas in the tourism sector,” Ambassador Hamadziripi told local media recently after submitting his credentials.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ministry spokesperson Mrs Constance Chemwayi explained the way the embassy will function.

“Ambassador Hamadziripi will be based in South Africa. I am sure you have heard of multiple accreditations, where a single diplomat covers a number of interrelated countries. That is what we are doing in this case because it cuts costs.”
