NEW: Zimbabwe to receive good rains – SADC experts

Online Reporter

Zimbabwe is likely to have good rains in the forthcoming season, according to a forecast by Southern African climate experts.

The forecast was made during the 25th Southern Africa Regional Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF 25) on Tuesday.

The forum, which is a convergence of weather experts, meets annually to compare evidence based notes on the prospects of the summer season.

Zimbabwe has been listed among countries set to receive normal to above normal rains, together with Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Mozambique and Eswatini.

Last year Zimbabwe had good rains which made possible the maize bumper harvest, which is believed to be in the region of 2 million metric tonnes.

According to the forecast, most countries in the SADC region are set to receive good rains, save for some parts of Angola, Seychelles and Comoros.
