Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has commended conservation partnerships, saying they have helped in wildlife conservation in the country.
Speaking during the launch of the Makona Ranger Camp in Hwange recently, ZimParks spokesperson, Mr Tinashe Farawo, said:
“Over the past few years, we have been having a lot of partners assisting us.
“If we look at the infrastructure here in Hwange, it is the best within the park’s estates.
“It is modern, user-friendly and it is also helping to improve the living conditions for our officers.”
International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) executive vice-president for strategy, programmes and field operation, Mr Jason Bell, said they are committed to continue working with Zimbabwe.
“The development that is here clearly shows our commitment, and we will continue to work in partnership with Zimbabwe,” he said.
Zimbabwe signed a five-year agreement with IFAW to promote wildlife conservation, animal rescue, rehabilitation and research.
The agreement will unlock US$1 million annually, which will be channeled to various projects.
