NEW: Zinara disburses $5bn to local authorities in Jan-March period

THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) has disbursed over $5 billion to urban and rural authorities during the first three months of the year under the second phase of the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP2).

During the quarter under review, Harare Metropolitan Province received the biggest chunk of funds at $1,4 billion for the rehabilitation of the capital’s roads.

Manicaland, Mashonaland East and Masvingo Provinces received about $600 million each, while Mashonaland West Province received around $599 million, and Matabeleland North Province received $452 million.

Midlands received $582 million, while Matabeleland South and Mashonaland Central Provinces got $267 million and $155 million, respectively.

Bulawayo Metropolitan Province was given $107 million.

Said Zinara CEO Mr Nkosinathi Ncube: “This year we have set a new high for ourselves as an institution and our target for 2022 is to disburse $17 billion. Pursuant to this, more than $5 billion has already been disbursed in the first quarter of 2022 to all road networks.”
