BARCELONA midfielder Xavi Hernandez has expressed his annoyance at the legal matters surrounding Neymar’s transfer from Brazilian side Santos in 2013. Barcelona have been accused of tax evasion in the transfer of Neymar after Spanish authorities believed the Brazilian cost the Catalan club around R1,2 billion rather than the reported R757 million.
Former Barca president Sandro Rosell was at the head of the allegations against fraud, and has since retired from his position at the club, but claims have continued against his successor Josep Bartomeu. Despite the on-going court cases not affecting the player directly, Neymar’s name is being dragged through the mud and captain Xavi says they are getting sick of the off-field grievances.
“The Neymar theme has been going on for over a year now, and we’re tired of it,” he told Radio Catalunya.— Kick-off.
