CHIBUKU Super Cup finalists Ngezi Platinum and Dynamos will clash in a re-arranged Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the Baobab Stadium this afternoon.
It is the only domestic encounter this weekend with the rest of the league observing the Fifa break.
The initial fixture was postponed due to CAF inter-club commitments.
Both sides have missed out on the league championship with Ngezi Platinum surrendering the title to Simba Bhora and their primary target is now the Chibuku Super Cup final at Rufaro on the last weekend of the month.
Dynamos go into today’s match in seventh position with 46 points from 32 games and will be desperate for maximum points to improve their ranking.
On the other hand, Ngezi Platinum Stars are third with 51 points and will also seek to consolidate their place in the top four in their final home match of the season.
Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe believes it will be about pride when the two teams clash.
“Every game we play as Dynamos is important, we play for our pride,” said Chigowe.
Despite reports of another strike by the Dynamos players during the mid-week over outstanding salaries and bonuses, Chigowe believes the team is ready for the challenge.
“We are ready to go.
“We are always ready for every match we play. We are used to playing even when the odds are against us for various reasons,” he said.
With a return to the African Safari at stake when the two sides meet in the Chibuku Super Cup, Chigowe has described today’s fixture as an interesting one.
“It’s interesting that we meet each other in the Chibuku Super Cup so it will be a cagey affair,” said the Dynamos gaffer.
Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Takesure Chiragwi, who is away with the Warriors, revealed that the 2023 champions are eyeing a respectable finish.
“It’s important as former champions to finish in a respectable position and that is what we are trying to do,” said the Ngezi Platinum Stars coach.
In the Chibuku Super Cup, Chiragwi is hopeful that his charges will prevail.
“What we can do is to play each game as it comes and now we are playing league games and we have to make sure we concentrate on them.
“We will then finish off with the Chibuku Super after the league games and we pray that we will be able to win,” said Chiragwi.
