NGEZI Platinum Stars are likely to face three of the players they rejected when they get their Castle Lager Premiership campaign underway with a battle against Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve on Saturday.
Chiefs midfielder, Danny Phiri, tried his luck at Ngezi but failed to convince coach Takesure ‘Deco’ Chiragwi to give him a contract.
The other two rejects are keeper Issa Ali and midfielder, Last Jesi.
Ali and Jesi were shown the exit door earlier this year.
Phiri featured for the Ninjas in the Castle Challenge Cup, which they lost 1-2 to FC Platinum, at Mandava.
The 2015 Soccer Star of the Year showed that class is permanent with the way he managed the game.
Jesi was a late substitute but he thrilled the fans from both ends each time he received the ball.
He said joining Chiefs was a calculated move and he doesn’t believe in grudge matches.
“I have settled well here at Chiefs, the environment is really good for me to rediscover myself,” said Jesi.
“I wanted to join a club where I can have game time and I’m confident that I made the right decision.
“There was no need for me to jump from one big club to another because I thought it wasn’t necessary.”
Jesi insisted he doesn’t have a point to prove when they host Ngezi Platinum Stars.
“Things didn’t work out as I expected when I was there and these are some of the things which we encounter as footballers.
“I’m just 28 and I still have time to show what I can do.
“There’s nothing personal about this, if I get the chance to play, I will just try my best to help the team to collect maximum points.
“I’m someone who doesn’t believe in grudge matches and I can’t wait to play against my old colleagues.”
