THE Borrowdale man, who made headlines yesterday for allegedly raping a teenage job-seeker four times in one night, appeared in court yesterday.
Herbert Madhume was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
He was remanded in custody to April 5 pending finalisation of investigations.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
The court heard that on March 8, the teenager received mobile money from Madhume for transport to Harare from Chipinge.
She had been employed by Madhume as a maid.
When she arrived, she discovered that Madhume lived in a one room.
He allegedly lied to her that she would be staying alone.
But, when it was bedtime, Madhume slept on the bed while she slept on the floor.
Around midnight, it is alleged that Madhume slipped into the girl’s blankets.
He raped her four times and she reported the matter to her aunt.
Her aunt escorted her to the police where a report was made, leading to Madhume’s arrest.
Lancelot Mutsokoti prosecuted.
