NGEZI FEEL THE LOVE

NGEZI Platinum Stars afforded people in Mashonaland West a lifetime opportunity to have a feel of the Castle Lager Premiership trophy as they celebrated their historic campaign with a parade here yesterday.

The club also distributed copies of the H-Metro special edition, which was published on Sunday, to celebrate their milestone achievement.

This provincial tour is meant to thank the Mashonaland West community for their support throughout the season.

Ngezi Platinum Stars won the league marathon with two games to spare.

They became the first team from Mashonaland West to achieve this feat.

The celebrations ended at Baobab where Suluman Chimbetu, who also hails from Mashonaland West, entertained a decent crowd that attended the party.

The local chiefs also graced the event.

The team’s forward, Takunda Benhura, gave people in Kadoma every reason to identify with Ngezi’s success after netting 13 times to claim the Golden Boot.

This title also meant everything to schoolboy Nisbert Muzenda, who was the only player in this squad, who was born and raised in Mhondoro-Ngezi.

He is an A Level student at Wanganui in Mhondoro-Ngezi.

The club are also considering taking the championship to his school.

“I’m excited to be part of this success, it’s something we had never seen and it’s everyone’s hope in Mashonaland West that this won’t be the last time.

“We are really happy and also motivated with the reception we got during our trophy parade.

“We felt the love across the province and it has challenged us to do better next season just to bring more joy in our province, especially in Mhondoro,” said Muzenda.

The team’s chairman, Leonard Musariri, said they want to play their CAF Champions League fixtures at Baobab.

“We have seen how people are appreciating the efforts that are being made to make this club one of the best in the league.

“We are going to try our best to make some upgrades that will enable us to host our CAF Champions League fixtures.”
