LEADERS Ngezi Platinum Stars ran riot yesterday and their coach Tonderai Ndiraya lauded forward Tendai Nguluve for powering his team to their biggest victory at Baobab Stadium since their promotion into the top flight in 2016.
“I think he (Nguluve) was the reason why we scored three goals in the first half. He was everywhere, scoring and assisting,” said Ndiraya.
Nguluve gave Ngezi a 17th minute lead before playing key roles in ushering Marlon Mushonga and Terence Dzvukamanja to score on 38 and 40 minutes respectively.
Donald Teguru increased the hosts’ lead 12 minutes into the second half before second half substitute Clive Augusto sealed victory two minutes into added time.
Ndiraya was also impressed by how his team finally came to the party in front of goal.
“We were very clinical in front of goal and this has been something that we have been lacking in our previous matches.
“I am happy with the result although I felt that my defence was a bit complacent and overconfident sometimes. That is something we should work on,” he said.
Yadah FC coach Thomas Ruzive blamed his charges for giving too much respect to the log leaders.
“We played very badly and I think my players gave so much respect to Ngezi Platinum as log leaders. That attitude caused this heavy defeat,” he said.
Yadah FC could have pulled one back on the brink of half-time but their first attempt at goal by Johannes Sibanda hit the woodwork.
The visitors tried to make a game of it in the second half but fluffed good chances with Ralph Matema and Leeroy Mavhunga as the main culprits.
