A DEFENSIVE blunder from Arthur Ndlovu cost Highlanders as they go into the break of their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter trailing one-nil against former champions Ngezi Platinum Stars.

In a bid to clear, the Bosso central defender hit the ball onto the path of Tinashe Mavhudzi who calmly slotted home from close range to put Madamburo in front.

The goal came in the 25th minute. It was the visitors’ first real chance of the first stanza and they made it count.

The struggling Bulawayo giants would, however, feel they should be in front or tied had they converted their chances.

The first shot on target came in the ninth minute, when Never Rauzhi took a shot from outside the box but his low effort was easily collected by Darlington Murasiranwa.

In the 21st minute, the hosts got yet another chance when Melikhaya Ncube laid the ball onto Malvern Hativagoni who unleashed a shot from distance but was, once again, easily dealt with by Murasiranwa.

Two minutes later, Bosso came close to breaking the deadlock when a Mason Mushore corner kick was met by an equally brilliant Rauzhi header which, unfortunately, went just wide of goal.

In the 37th minute, Bosso got a freekick in a promising position. Mushore stood behind the ball but his effort was headed away for a corner kick by the Ngezi Platinum wall.

Moments later, Bosso came close to leveling matters when Melikhaya Ncube unleashed a thunder bolt from inside the box only to be denied by the woodwork. Mushore could not deal with the rebound.

At the stroke of half time, Bosso came close again through Panashe Mushonga whose volley from inside the box was punched away for a corner kick by Murasiranwa who has been brilliant in goals for Madumburo.
