A Human Resources manager with a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) is being accused of denying a father access to his one-year-old child.
This follows a misunderstanding between the two, which resulted in them separating, after having stayed together for three years.
The child’s father, Tawanda Matemberere, has filed an application with the Harare Civil Court claiming the mother of his child, Pamela Muzenda, had acquired a birth certificate for the child in her surname.
Tawanda is also demanding access to his child.
The matter is expected to be heard next Tuesday.
In his founding affidavit, Tawanda stated he lived with Pamela for about three years.
“We separated sometime in July 2022, after a misunderstanding over my child’s birth certificate.
“We have not been staying together for a month now after Pamela chased me away from our house.
“She is now denying me access to my child, thereby infringing on my rights, and that of the minor child.
“Pamela went on to acquire a birth certificate for the child behind my back and omitted my names on the documents, preferring to use her surname,” claimed Tawanda.
Contacted for comment, Pamela referred all questions to Tawanda.
“I do not have anything to say, but you can get all the information from Tawanda wacho,” said Pamela.
However, H-Metro is reliably informed that Pamela has since applied for a protection order against Tawanda.
