A LOCAL, non-profit organisation, Isibonelo Esihle Education Trust has donated a car to Esigodini Police Station in Umzingwane District, Matabeleland South that will help law enforcement agents to attend to crime scenes timeously.

Speaking at the handover of the new Isuzu KB on Thursday, Trust director Mr Willard Dungeni said their donation was driven by the desire to improve and develop the district.

“The Trust is working with partners in trying to achieve socio-economic development that matches the district, provincial, national and global standards of development. Our vision is to be a leading organisation in uplifting lives in Umzingwane District.

We have made various contributions to the district, particularly channeling our resources towards fighting Covid-19 and in the education sector,” he said.

Umzingwane Member of Parliament Retired Brigadier-General Levi Mayihlome said more organisations should come on board and help develop the district.

“As the chairman of the Parliament Portfolio Committee on Defence, Security and Home Affairs, I am privy to the issue that demands for cars in the police force are very high. As such I then engaged the community and called upon us to address the problem once and for all. The pillars of the new dispensation are Unity, Peace and Development and as such it is our duty to promote these pillars as citizens. Let us help the police in a sustainable way instead of buying them alcohol as we have got such reports,” he said.

Police Officer Commanding Matabeleland South Province, Commissioner Ndofandaedza Jaboon said the car will help with mobility for officers. He pledged that police will safe guard the donation and use it for its intended purpose.
