Ngodzo gets new job at Gwanda Pirates

FOLLOWING his appointment as Gwanda Pirates head coach, ex Highlanders and Warriors midfield magician Johannes ‘Tshisa” Ngodzo says he is looking forward to a new challenge in his coaching career.

Ngodzo, was unveiled as the Gwanda Pirates new boss on Wednesday after his divorce with Zifa Southern Region Division One side, Adachi FC. Gwanda Pirates, will be playing in the Zifa Central Region Division One League.

“It is always good to get a new challenge. I acknowledge the belief and trust that has been shown in me. The key thing will be to work together as a team as we seek to achieve our 2025 goals,” said Ngodzo, a yesteryear stylish midfielder who dazzled many in Bosso and Warriors colours alongside the likes of Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda, Peter Ndlovu, Esrom Nyandoro and Tinashe Nengomasha among others.

Ngodzo’s coaching career is equally impressive, with notable appointments at Bantu Rovers Juniors, Bulawayo City Under 20, and as assistant coach at Bulawayo City under Mandla

“Lulu” Mpofu and Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu.

“Gwanda Pirates FC is excited to welcome Ngodzo on board, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the team. As the club embarks on the 2025 soccer season, Ngodzo’s appointment is expected to inject new energy and momentum into the team.

“We are delighted to have Johannes ‘Signature’ Ngodzo join our team. His impressive playing and coaching career speaks for itself, and we believe he will be an invaluable asset to Gwanda Pirates FC. We wish him all the best during his tenure with the club,” said Pirates in a statement.

In a remarkable achievement, Gwanda Pirates, established just but a year ago, clinched the league title in their inaugural season in the Zifa Matabeleland South Division Two League
On Sunday Gwanda Pirates are going to engage in a friendly match against Ngodzo’s former club, Highlanders at Phelandaba Stadium in the gold mining town.
