Nguru won his fourth title of the season in a close contest in the 54-hole tournament.
Nguru has won the Julius Robinson Trophy, Matabeleland Amateur, Bata Power and the Hillside Masters.
The Chapman golfer was pleased with the win and is hopeful that his good form will continue in the next events.
“The competition was very tough but I am happy that I managed to win,” said Nguru.
“There was a lot of pressure from the other players who fought all the way to the final round. I give all the credit to the hard work I have put into my game as I wanted to win badly and I am happy.”
Nguru replaced Scott Vincent, who was not there to defend his title, as the Hillside Masters champion. He carded rounds of 76, 76, 71 and 75 for a gross score of 298.
Nguru beat the challenge of 98 players and his nearest challenger, Nicholas Masunga, was six points adrift.
Masunga, who is having a fair season, scored 78, 73, 75 and 73 to gross 304.
Biggie Chibvuri finished third after a decent gross of 308. Junior golfer Benjamin Follet Smith defied the odds to settle for fourth place. The Wingate Park youngster had a good day in office and managed a 308 gross score after the four rounds. Bernard Magaso completed the top five on 312.
The Zimbabwe Golf Association secretary, Joe Sithole, believes local golf is improving with every outing.
“The tournament was a huge success and there are a lot of improvements in terms of organisation in local tournaments.
“We had two good days of golf which the players enjoyed. The other good thing is our tournaments are improving in terms of numbers and the turnout in Manicaland was very pleasing and we look forward to that when we visit the Lowveld,” Sithole said
Meanwhile the World Tourism Group Golf Day will be played at the weekend in Masvingo and the provisional draw has been conducted. The tournament will be used as a fundraiser for the Mucheke Old Peoples’ Home.
