MARK Ngwazi is delighted with his first nomination for this year’s 21st edition of the National Arts Merit Awards.
He said the NAMA nomination is the highlight of his career.
Ngwazi is vying for the Outstanding Male Musician alongside Baba Harare and Freeman.
He was also nominated under the category of Outstanding Album with his project Nharo Nezvine Nharo, which is competing against Zimbabwean Giant by Baba Harare and David & Goliath by Freeman.
Speaking to H-Metro, Ngwazi said he was ready for the fierce battle for honours.
“This truly means that the work I have been putting in as an artist, along with the team, has finally paid off,” he said.
Ngwazi is also positive he will scoop the gong for the People’s Choice Award.
“I pray that my loyal fans will help me win the People’s Choice Award because these are the people who make me push so hard, they support me through thick and thin,” he said.
It’s Ngwazi’s first NAMA nomination since the beginning of his career and he hopes it will lead to his first award.
Ngwazi is aiming to go higher than he already has.
The awards will be held at the Harare International Conference Centre on February 25 under the theme “Unlocking Dreams”.
