DYNAMOS youngster, Vusa Ngwenya, made an impressive outing on Sunday, helping his team secure a 1-0 victory over defending champions, Simba Bhora.

Ngwenya, who was thrust into the starting lineup, held his own against experienced opponents, including former Dynamos players Junior Makunike, Emmanuel Ziocha, Donald Mudadi and Trevor Mavunga. The match was his first start of the season.

“I’m happy with my performance, especially since it’s my first game this season,” he said. “The coaches have been promising me that I would play and I’ve been patient. They told me to keep things simple and not hesitate if I made a mistake.”

Ngwenya credited his senior teammates, including Shadreck Nyahwa and Emmanuel Jalai, for their guidance and support. “They have a lot of experience and teach us a lot of things. As youngsters, we listen to their instructions and learn from them.”

The win marks a significant boost in momentum for Dynamos, and Ngwenya is eager to continue the team’s success. “We want to keep up the momentum and go week in, week out with this energy,” he said.

Ngwenya, who joined Dynamos’ junior team at the age of 12 and was promoted to the senior team in 2023, expressed his versatility on the field. Last season, the coach featured him as an inverted right-back before switching him back to his natural position against Simba.

“I’m happy playing as a midfielder, but the coach decided to put me as a right-back, as cover for Jalai. I can play in any position, but I’m happy to be back in my natural position.”
