Nhimbe Trust director appointed to international cultural body

Sunday Life Reporter

The director of Bulawayo-based Nhimbe Trust, an arts and culture advocacy organisation, Josh Nyapimbi, has been appointed to the International Cultural and Creative Industries Regulatory Authority (Iccira) Ambassadors and Executive Directors Team.

Iccira last week announced the addition of 71 new ambassadors with enhanced responsibilities including Nyapimbi, who represents Zimbabwe, among 10 other African countries. The board provides leadership for carrying out the authority’s mission to promote global cultural and creative industries’ legal and regulatory cohesion.

In a statement from Brussels, Belgium, the organisation said, “with the use of contemporary and acceptable legal and regulatory tools and methodologies, academic findings, argumentations and paradigms, cultural diplomacy, and dialogue with the cultural actors and organisations, Iccira conducts international research in related and relevant cultural and creative industries’ concerns and matters, in order to offer solutions which lead to a better civilisation.”

Nyapimbi said he was looking forward to the challenge.

“It is a great honour to be appointed among highly distinguished colleagues and peers as one of the Ambassadors and Executive Directors for Iccira. I look forward to this unfolding cultural professional path with renewed optimism and zeal. Given Zimbabwe will soon be launching its new strategy on arts, culture and heritage promotion; the appointment is timely.”

Iccira is an organisation run entirely by highly skilled professionals, academics and cultural actors, who are members, volunteers and non-paid supporters. Iccira expects to embrace in the next six months 765 established Cultural and Creative Industries Cultural Actors Ambassadors from all over the world.
