and commerce between the two countries.
Ambassador Nuhu said this yesterday after paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai at his offices at Charter House.
“I intend to work very closely with the people and Government of Zimbabwe and reinvigorate the good relations between our two countries.
“Nigeria has been active in Zimbabwe since the time of the struggle, we have a very long history of friendship and my mandate is to ensure that all agreements signed between Zimbabwe and Nigeria are implemented.
“These include agreements on air travel, trade and the establishment of the bilateral chamber of commerce,” he said.
Ambassador Nuhu said PM Tsvangirai had briefed him on the Global Political Agreement and the political situation in the country.
“The Prime Minister briefed me on the on-going situation in Zimbabwe.
“Nigeria totally supports the GPA and the role being played by the facilitator and hope for the full implementation of agreed positions,” Ambassador Nuhu said.
Brazilian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Marcia Maro da Silva, also called on PM Tsvangirai and expressed optimism that Zimbabweans would soon find solutions to the challenges facing the nation.
“I had a very important meeting and I informed him about my mission and strengthening of Zimbabwe and Brazil relations.
“The Prime Minister made some comments about the political environment and that he was optimistic about Zimbabwe’s progress,” she said.
Added Ambassador Da Silva: “I think you are in the right way and you will overcome the differences, it is normal that you have differences in a democracy.”
She said Brazil would work to promote ties in the energy sector.
