owns Kilimanjaro Restaurant, was not formally charged when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma.
Olisa, who also used the name Innocent Mwawolisa, was remanded in custody for bail application.
He is being charged for bigamy, contravening Section 48 (1) (a) of the Road Traffic Act Chapter 13:11, “supplying false information when applying for a drivers licence,” and perjury.
Prosecutor, Mr David Magwegwe alleges that on January 9, Theresa Mavhima went to the Passport Office to apply for another passport since the one she had is expiring in June this year.
The passport officer informed her that she was supposed to renew her passport in her husband’s surname, Mwawolisa instead of her maiden name. Further verifications indicated that Mavhima was married to Olisa or Mwawolisa. She was told that the marriage was solemnised at the Harare Provincial Magistrate Court under certificate number 1290/02 and the marriage was still valid.
Mavhima was shocked and filed a report at Southerton Police Station.
It was also discovered that Olisa had another marriage solemnised on May 14 2004 at the same court with certificate number 1173/04.
Further investigations revealed that the Immigration Department deported Olisa in 2002 under the name Mwawolisa.
On July 22, 2010 Olisa applied for a Class 4 driver’s licence at the Central Vehicle Registry, which he was issued under licence number 48766AM.
On December 12, 2002 he was issued with another class 4 licence under the name Mwawolisa, licence number 88565LK.
On January 12 this year Olisa made a sworn statement admitting that he is married to Theresa Mavhima.
On the same day he made another statement using the name Mwawolisa indicating that he is married to Sheila Chikovore, leading to his arrest.
