NINE of the 13 Chinhoyi boys who stoned a 21-year-old man who later died at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital are set to appear in court today.
The boys, aged between 15 and 17, were released into the custody of their guardians and parents, while the other four are yet to be arrested.

Passmore Moyo was stoned by the gang along Hunyani River on Saturday and sustained serious injuries.

Reliable sources said the boys were counselled by police officials before being released into the custody of their families as the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) engages the Attorney General’s office on the way forward.

On Sunday, the ZRP, through its X handle, said it was investigating the murder case.

“Thirteen male juveniles assaulted the victim with bricks on the head following a scuffle over an undisclosed issue,” said the police.

Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera called on parents to instill sound moral values in their children and said any offenders will face the full wrath of the law.
