Zimbabwean Afro-house star Nitefreak emerged as one of the standout performers at the latest Kunye event, held at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden in South Africa over the weekend.

The event, hosted by acclaimed DJ and producer Shimza through his Kunye platform, brought together some of Africa’s leading house music acts in a celebration of electronic music culture. Thousands of fans attended, reinforcing Kunye’s growing reputation as one of the continent’s premier Afro-house experiences.

While the line-up featured several high-profile performers, it was Nitefreak’s set that dominated conversations both at the venue and online.

Shortly after his performance, Kunye paid tribute to the Zimbabwean producer, writing on social media: “What Nitefreak did on the Kunye decks last night… No words. Just moments we’ll be talking about for a long time.”

Fans quickly echoed the praise, flooding social media with reactions describing the set as “pure magic” and celebrating Nitefreak as one of Africa’s finest electronic music exports. Many attendees said his performance stood out as one of the highlights of the festival, with some calling it a defining moment of the event.

Despite minor logistical concerns raised by some attendees, including long queues for food, festival-goers agreed that the overall experience and performances delivered strong value.

The Pretoria appearance adds to Nitefreak’s steadily rising profile on the global Afro-house circuit. Over the past few years, the Zimbabwean producer has built a strong international reputation, performing across Europe, North America and major global music festivals and venues.

His growing catalogue and touring schedule have earned him recognition from leading figures in electronic music, further expanding his audience beyond the African continent.

His reception at Kunye Pretoria further cemented his status as one of the most exciting names in Afro-house, with both fans and organisers hailing his set as one that will be remembered long after the final track.
