HE robbed, he ran, but the streets finally caught up with him.
A notorious Njube thug, Alexandra Ngwenya (28), was busted at a busy intersection after a sharp-eyed victim spotted him lurking near Nketa Drive and Masiyephambili Way. What followed was a dramatic citizen’s arrest that ended months of terror in Bulawayo’s suburbs.
Ngwenya, described as the ringleader in a string of armed robberies, carjackings, and theft cases, had been on the run since November 2024. But his luck ran out on May 16, 2025.
“One of the complainants saw him and raised alarm,” confirmed Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele. “Members of the public teamed up and apprehended him before handing him over to detectives.”
The accused was part of a ruthless trio that included Zibusiso Ndlovu of Nkulumane and Tyson Taylor Moyo (29) of Nketa 8 — both already behind bars and on remand.
“They stormed homes at gunpoint, jacked cars, and even vanished with trust property worth US$4 000,” said a source close to the investigation.
In total, the gang allegedly stole over US$14 400, with just US$5 000 recovered so far.
Ngwenya, the final puzzle piece, was implicated by his accomplices after their December 2024 arrest by CID Homicide detectives. But he vanished, until his dramatic takedown at the robots.
“He admitted to the crimes during questioning,” confirmed police. “He was fully aware he was wanted.”
Police praised the public for aiding in the arrest.
“We won’t rest until every criminal is off our streets. This partnership with the community is making it harder for robbers to breathe,” said Insp Msebele.
As Ngwenya awaits his day in court, residents can finally exhale — the streets just got a little safer.
Justice is circling. Fast.
