Nkayi courts investors to build shopping mall, office complex

THE Nkayi Rural District Council is courting investors to partner with it in the construction of a shopping mall and an office complex as efforts to improve service delivery through infrastructure that supports economic growth gather pace.

The two projects are significant to the Nkayi RDC as they will not only give a major facelift to the district centre but help in the improvement of public service delivery, attract more economic activity and reduce reliance on external sources for goods and services.

Nkayi RDC chief executive officer, Mr Silibele Mpofu said a partnership between willing investors and the RDC would result in a win-win situation for all parties as they would both benefit tremendously from the project.

“As the Nkayi RDC, we firmly believe in the power of collaboration and the tremendous opportunities that arise when like-minded individuals and organisations come together to drive development and create lasting impact.

“Our vision is to foster a vibrant and substantial future for our district, and we recognize that attracting external investment is a crucial step towards achieving that goal. We, therefore, call upon investors to come and partner with us to create a lasting legacy in changing the face of the district from the proverbial ‘umnyam’ubambile’ narrative,” said Mr Mpofu.

He said the office space was going to provide a conducive working environment for the many organisations based in the district whose offices were located in residential areas where enterprising individuals are leasing out their houses.

Mr Mpofu said the hall would serve as a multi-purpose facility for meetings, workshops and community events while the shopping mall would ease people’s lives as the facility would provide enough shopping space, restaurants and fast food outlets in the district.

“It is important to note that these projects are going to benefit both the RDC and its investors. Building projects offer the potential for attractive financial returns on investment. Investors have the opportunity to participate in projects that are designed to generate revenue through various means such as commercial leasing,” he said.

Mr Mpofu said the development was motivated by a steady population growth that ultimately calls for a high demand of goods and services. “Having a standard office space and a conference hall means that the rural district council can attract conferences, seminars and events from external organisations as well as provide enough office space to Government and non-governmental organisations.

“This brings economic benefits to the region as it stimulates local businesses, hospitality services, tourism and ultimately contributing to the overall economic growth and development of the area,” he said.

He further noted the advantage of partnering with the RDC saying it meant actively contributing to the development and transformation of communities.

“By investing in projects that prioritise sustainability, accessibility and community-centric design, investors can make a positive and lasting impact on the surrounding neighbourhoods. Aligning with RDC’s reputable brand and track record can enhance an investor’s reputation and branding while supporting socially responsible initiatives and being associated with projects that contribute to community well-being can strengthen one’s standing in the market and attract further investment opportunities,” said Mr Mpofu.
