UNHERALDED Zimbabwean defender, Albert Nkosana, is on the verge of clinching the league title in the Eswatini Premier Soccer League.
Nkosana (28) could join a a few Zimbabwean players to win a league title in that country.
The gangly defender, who previously played for TelOne and Bulawayo City in the domestic league, is now on the books of Mbabane Swallows.
With only four matches remaining in the season, Swallows are currently at the top of the table, leading with 43 points after 22 games.
The title race is set to go to the wire as Swallows lead second and third-placed sides Green Mamba and Young Buffaloes by two points.
However, Nkosana, a regular starter for Swallows, remains optimistic.
“We will continue to fight for the title till the end of the season. I’m quite sure it is our year. Mbabane Swallows last won the championship four years ago.
“Everyone here is worried by that so we want to win it,” he said.
He also acknowledged the challenges that come with winning the league title in a tightly-contested race.
“It won’t be easy because Mamba and Buffaloes are also keen to win it just like we do. They are not pushovers.”
If Swallows win the title, they will end Green Mamba’s four-year dominance.
In Eswatini, Nkosana played for Nsingizi Hotspurs, who are now home to ex-Dynamos forward Nyasha Chintuli, and Rangers FC.
This was between 2022 and 2023 before he moved to Swallows at the start of the 2024 season. – Agencies
