The joint performance left many music lovers asking for more. Selmor, daughter of the music icon Oliver Mtukudzi, was the first on stage and thrilled several fans that attended the show with selected hits from her albums and some by her father.
She performed tracks which included “Chiro” from her first album, “Zinyanga” taken from her second album and the hit song “Nguva Yangu” from her latest album “Expressions” which appeared to be the people’s favourite.
Selmor performed her father’s songs “Wenge Mambo” and “Muchatuta” while she danced katekwe just like Mtukudzi.
When energetic Nkulee, daughter of the late South African reggae legend Lucky Dube, came on stage fans were already in high spirits.
Nkulee told the audience that it was good to see two daughters of the music legends coming together and making things happen.
“Selmor is my sister from another mother so together, we are good to go and Jah will bless us. Everybody knows there was Lucky (the father) and you also know your very own Tuku , that alone will make us strong as daughters of the legends,” Nkulee said.
Clad in Rastafarian regalia of red, gold and green, Nkulee did not disappoint as she churned hit after hit.
She spiced her repertoire with some of her father’s songs which include “Prisoner”, “Ding ding Licky Licky Bong” and “Feel Irie”.
Lucky Dube must be smiling in his grave after Nkulee proved her mettle as a solo performer. Selmor later joined Nkulee’s set on the song “Feel Irie”. The pair left the crowd asking for more.
“One more, one more, one more (especially their fathers’ hits) . . .,” the crowd screamed.
