No hard feelings, says disqualified Zanu-PF candidate

Sunday News Reporter
A Zanu-PF aspiring candidate for Hwange East constituency who was disqualified from running for the seat during the just ended primary elections, Cde Hillario Ngulube has dispelled rumours that he received money to withdraw from the race.

Cde Ngulube, a businessman in Hwange who is also a former army officer and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe employee, said he submitted his papers to contest in the primary elections, but his name was not considered.

“I have no hard feelings. My name did not appear on the list of contesting candidates and I did not ask why. I trust the party did not include my name because the correct procedures and processes were followed, that is why I never bothered to ask why my name was not there. I, however, want to make it clear that I did not receive money to withdraw from the race as some people in the area are now insinuating,” he said.

After Cde Ngulube’s name did not appear on the list, Cde Fati Mpofu won the ticket to represent the ruling party in the constituency uncontested. The seat is in the hands of MDC-T.

Cde Ngulube also contested in the primaries in 2013 but lost.
