ZIMDANCEHALL artist Takura Chiwoniso, popularly known as Blot, will spend more time in remand prison after the State failed to secure a forensic report for the third time.
The chanter has been on remand for close to a month now.
He appeared in court on Friday, but the State had no forensic report.
“We made an application for Blot’s removal from remand on the basis that we did not make any bail application to afford the State time to put its house in order.
“His right to liberty continues to be infringed. The State had initially said the police need 10 to 14 days to get the results, but our client has now been in custody for over a month.
“There is a possibility that the results may come negative so the State suffers no prejudice by having him removed from remand.
“The State doesn’t even know when the results will come out,” said Blot’s lawyer, Stanely Mutandadzi.
Blot was arrested on June 14 on allegations of possessing crystal meth.
He was arrested following a tip-off to the police that he was taking crystal meth in his parked car in Sunningdale.
The forensic report will ascertain whether it was actually crystal meth.
His trial failed to kick off on June 27 due to the absence of a forensic report from the police and the State applied for a postponement.
Blot will be back in court on July 21.
