adminLONDON. – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move for Sami Khedira – declaring that the Gunners’ were “never close” to signing the Real Madrid midfielder.
The 27-year-old, who won the World Cup with Germany this summer, has been tipped to leave the European champions this summer, following their signings of both Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
And the Gunners have been heavily-linked with the former Stuttgart captain, with reports in Spain having previously claimed that a £25million deal was all but finalised.
However, Arsenal’s French boss says that with Jack Wilshere back fit and the plethora of other midfield options already at his disposal, he doesn’t need the German — while questioning who has been touting the player around. The Frenchman commented: “I don’t know who has put Khedira on the market — is it his agent or the press?
“We were never close to signing him. Jack Wilshere is back fit and in midfield we have offensive midfielders and quite a few box-to-box players.” – The Mirror.
