AFTER an underwhelming stay at Highlanders for two seasons, Netherlands expatriate Erol Akbay has since then been a school boy.
After his departure at the end of the 2017 season his local agent Denford Mutashu, said the coach has been in and out of coaching school since leaving Bosso.
“Akbay has been upgrading his coaching credentials in Netherlands for the past 12 months as part of requirements by the Royal Dutch Football Association.
“Keeping him out of active coaching for the last 12 months was, in fact, a deliberate move on our part for him to catch up on his coaching courses,” Mutashu told B-Metro Sport.
According to the European Football Association (Uefa), Netherlands has produced some of the greatest coaches in the world and the Royal Netherlands Football Association thrives on excellence by ensuring that highly qualified coaches cascade down to grassroots level.
Each week over 30 000 youth and amateur games coached by qualified personnel are played across the Netherlands.
When the right deal is laid on the table, Akbay will not hesitate to put pen to paper.
“He has fond memories of his time here in Zimbabwe so nothing will stop him from coaching a local team again but I must make it clear that we do not have offers from any PSL club at the moment,” said Mutashu.
