ZIFA Southern Region Division One 2017 league champions Bulawayo Chiefs will not be making major signings to boost their side for the top flight next season.
Twenty eight wins and two draws without losing a match did the trick for Bulawayo Chiefs.
a?We cannot change a winning team, the boys played well and some of them have never had a feel of the premier league and we hope to give these boys an opportunity to play because they worked hard,a? said Bulawayo Chiefs secretary general Dumisani Sibanda.
But they could buy one or two players for stability.
a?The premier league needs depth so probably we are not ruling out buying players because experience is needed for our youthful side,a? he added.
When the team was relegated the last time around, it loaned some of its players to premier league ides.
As such, those would get first option to join Bulawayo Chiefs.
a?But in the event we are recruiting players we are taking first preference to our players who are on loan in the premiership. They are doing well but we can only do this if those players say they want to join us because l believe they have Bulawayo Chiefs at heart,a? added Sibanda.
A solid team of fighters is what Bulawayo Chiefs wants in the dressing room.
a?We donat want a situation where players are just after money like what we saw with the Highlanders striker Roderick Mutuma who left a huge gap when he moved to Yadah FC for a lucrative deal. Thatas why we are now giving players a winning bonus so that they concentrate more on the game than on money,a? said Sibanda.
Meanwhile, Bulawayo Chiefsa unbeaten streak came to a halt when they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Iminyela-based Chiwororo a a team fighting relegation. Chiefs fielded its juniors. . .
