‘NO OFFERS FOR CAPS’

Bruce Chikuni
CAPS United president, Farai Jere, says no-one has shown interest in taking over the club despite his offer to hand it for FREE.

It’s been five days since Jere opened the doors to anyone, with the capacity to restore Makepekepe’s pride, to come and take over the running and ownership of the franchise.

Jere revealed last week that, at least, US$40 000 was needed, every month, to run the Green Machine.

He also said that while, in the past, some potential suitors have shown interest, their passion appeared to be diluted once they knew the huge costs involved in running the club.

He said there has been no interest, from any corner, and they have now focused on trying to boost morale in their camp.

He revealed they have completed the signing of veteran forward, Ali Sadiki, for the remainder of the season.

“I haven’t seen anyone at my office asking or making any inquiries about the club so far,” said Jere.

“It’s my wish to see the club at its very best, just like anyone related to the club, but it’s just unfortunate that things haven’t been going according to the plan.

“We are slowly recovering and people should not forget that no situation is permanent, it’s just a phase which we are going through.

“I’m quite optimistic that we are going to have a better second round of the season,” said Jere.

He reiterated they haven’t closed doors for any sponsorship or any willing stakeholders, who wish to assist the team, in any way.

“We will never get tired of looking for sponsorship,” he said.

“CAPS United is a big brand and we can’t shut the door on anyone who is willing to assist the team.

“The players are quite motivated, as a matter of fact, we have many players who are willing to join this club.

“Our situation is being exaggerated, if it was that bad, we could have not been signing any player.

“We have managed this club at the highest level, we made it through to the group stages of CAF Champions League, by eliminating one of Africa’s giants TP Mazembe.

“We are just appealing to the fans to be patient with us, as we are looking for a way forward.

“The boys have resumed their training sessions, everyone is showing great determination, and the morale has ignited our hopes of turning around the tables.”

Lloyd Chitembwe’s troops have struggled in the first half of the Castle Lager Premiership.

They are sitting on six straight losses.
