Reactions on various social media platforms attest to this.
You always have to start by putting a disclaimer when you are speaking to the Zimbabwean audience: I am not a politician and do not have any intentions whatsoever to be in politics in the near future.
My focus is law and people development, which I quite enjoy.
Like any other serious Zimbabwean, I am a registered voter and exercised my constitutional right to vote.
The transformation agenda
There is one thing that many people often forget: Polls and voting are for a season, but if you live perpetually in election mode, your chances of building anything meaningful are slim. The next elections will be in 2028, and then 2033, and then 2038, et cetera.
How old will you be?
Where will your business be?
I am not God, but by 2038, a sizeable number of people reading this article may no longer be around.
Life happens!
You cannot be whining and complaining all the time. Time is moving and it waits for no one. These are some of the conversations I want all of us to be comfortable with as we map the strategy for our lives and our businesses.
I write to you today as a reminder that the power to transform our lives lies within each and every one of us.
One of the things I value in the engagements I have with individuals and business is the power of blunt and honest conversations.
We can try to pamper or excite each other with niceties, but if we are always running away from conversations that force us out of our comfort zone, we are not ready to grow.
Whilst these uncomfortable conversations may be unpopular, they tell you what you need to hear and not what you want to hear.
No one is coming!
In times of uncertainty and adversity, it is easy to get caught up in the rhetoric of change and expect someone, or something, to come and magically solve all our problems.
It is crucial that we acknowledge our innate ability to make a difference in our own lives.
No one is coming to change your life for you.
No one is coming to change your business for you.
This is the critical subject of my book titled “No one is coming: Time to take charge of your life”.
The sooner you realise and understand this reality, the better.
You have to create what you want to see.
It is essential to recognise the power and potential within ourselves to effect change in our own lives and circumstances.
It can be all too tempting to fall into the trap of hoping for a saviour or seeking external sources to come and resolve our problems, but the truth is that genuine and lasting change originates from within.
We must first understand that we possess the ability to shape our own destinies and make a significant impact on our lives.
It is through acknowledging this innate capacity that we can overcome challenges and move forward with determination and resilience.
No matter how daunting our problems may seem, it is crucial to remember that we have the potential to find solutions and forge a new path.
Take charge of your life
Taking charge of our lives involves accepting personal responsibility for our choices, actions and outcomes.
It means recognising that we are not passive recipients of circumstances, but active agents with the power to influence our trajectory.
Instead of waiting for someone or something to come to our rescue, we must proactively seek solutions, embrace personal growth and develop the necessary skills to navigate through life’s challenges.
Moreover, relying solely on external forces to provide solutions we seek can lead to a sense of helplessness and relinquishing control over our own lives. It is in our best interest to prioritise self-reliance, resilience and a proactive mindset. By doing so, we empower ourselves to overcome obstacles and find innovative ways to address our problems.
Indeed, true change requires courage, determination and a willingness to step out of our comfort zones.
It involves introspection, self-reflection and a sincere desire to improve.
This process of self-empowerment can be liberating and transformative.
It enables us to unlock our full potential, discover untapped strengths and cultivate a sense of purpose and fulfilment.
Let us not underestimate the impact of taking charge of our lives in times of adversity.
By focusing on our own growth and self-improvement, we not only strengthen our own resilience, but also inspire those around us to do the same.
Our individual efforts can ripple outwards, creating a positive effect that reverberates through our communities and society.
Do not wait
It is imperative to realise that waiting for a transformational shift solely from elected officials will only hinder our progress.
We must understand that change does not come knocking on our doors; we must create it ourselves.
Our nation’s development is a collective responsibility that starts with each individual acknowledging their own potential and taking tangible steps towards realising it.
May this period be a clarion call to rise united, confident and fully determined to steer our destiny.
By actively participating in the process, we have already showcased our resilience and power to influence our future.
Now, we must channel that energy inwards, embracing the principles of self-reliance, cooperation and perseverance.
Let us foster a mindset of self-empowerment, recognising that our dreams and aspirations are within our grasp.
Let us take proactive steps to educate ourselves, develop essential skills and seek opportunities for personal growth.
Together, let us build networks and support systems that enable us to uplift one another, share knowledge and collectively overcome obstacles.
The road to progress may be challenging at times, but it is our shared responsibility to navigate and shape it.
Let us break free from the shackles of doubt and complacency, casting aside all excuses for inaction. It is only through persistent effort, determination and resilience that we can bring about the true transformation our nation so ardently deserves. Let us embrace this post-election period as an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth.
By taking ownership of our lives, we become the architects of our own destiny.
Together, let us ignite the flames of change that burn within us and weave a brighter future for ourselves, our families and the next generations.
Let me end by saying it is crucial to acknowledge our innate ability to make a difference in our own lives, especially in challenging times.
By understanding that true change begins from within, we can take charge of our lives, instead of relying on external forces.
Let us embrace personal growth, resilience and a proactive mindset as we navigate through life’s difficulties.
Through our individual efforts, we have the power to bring about genuine and lasting change that echoes far beyond ourselves.
