A COMPANYA reported to have fired workers who resisted cleaning toilets after their bosses, Bulk Commodities Private Limited, says no one was fired particularly for that.
The Bulawayo-based company, through its lawyers Phulu, Ncube and Partners told B-Metro that it does not practice such a?inhumanea? treatment of its workforce.
a?Our client advised us to set the record straight that no one was fired for cleaning after their bosses. There are cleaners hired by the company but not to necessarily clean after any particular person,a? the lawyers said.
In the story publishedA by B-Metro last week, workers had taken their employer to the National Employment Council (NEC) for unfair dismissal.
However, some in independent interviews claimed they had been fired for refusing to clean after their bosses.
The company lawyers said workers did approach the NEC but no one lodged a single complaint to do with cleaning toilets.
a?Their issue is that they were fired for misdeeds. That is what we are dealing with and there is no single toilet complaint officially launched,a? the lawyers added.
