back on stage at the Book Café this Friday. Across town his cousin Tryson will be doing his own thing at the City Sports Bar.
Sulu had a hectic festive season and he has not stopped for once since the beginning of this year. He is set to return to Book Café for the second time in the last three months having performed there at the official opening of the Book Café Garden where he was the major attraction alongside mbira queen Chiwoniso Maraire in November.
Only this week Suluman’s camp said they had to cut short their annual leave due to the “overwhelming” demand for his latest album. Previously scheduled to start shows in the first week of February, the Orchestra Dendera frontman is due to take his hugely popular “Sean Timba” to Book Café before heading for Extra Mile Leisure Spot the next day.
While Sulu’s stock has been on the rise thanks to massive corporate backing, Tryson is no pushover when it comes to the stage.
“Dr Nero”, as he is affectionately known by his multitude of fans, might not have released an album in the last 12 months but he puts up electrifying shows that remind many of the late Simon Chimbetu.
He has managed to breathe life into the outfit formerly known as the G7 Commandos which he renamed the Marxist Brothers, a name used by Simon and Naison Chimbetu in their formative years.
He continues to prove his mettle and this has seen him sharing the stage with big names in the industry such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso and the Charambas among others.
Dendera fans are divided as to who is the better of the two, so full houses are guaranteed at both the Book Café and the City Sports Bar in what can be dubbed the Battle of Harare.
