No SA acts for Bulawayo Shutdown: 22 local artistes lined up for December event

The highly anticipated  Bulawayo Shutdown show, traditionally held every April for the past seven years, will make its December debut this year following overwhelming public demand.

This decision follows the success of the seventh edition, which took place in April this year at the Queens Sports Club. Now, the event promises to make another unforgettable impact on the entertainment landscape with performances from a diverse line-up of 22 artistes from across Zimbabwe.

Headlining the event are Zimbabwe’s celebrated artistes, Jah Prayzah, Winky D and Freeman, who are all expected to deliver electrifying performances. The show is scheduled for December 27 at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre.

In addition to Jah Prayzah and Winky D, the  Harare line-up includes Killer T, Saintfloew, Enzo Ishall, Silent Killer, Nisha T and Master H. Bulawayo’s contingent features Insimbi ZeZhwane, Sandra Ndebele, Mzoe7, Ma9ine, Jay Cee, Zulu House Maniac, Feel G, along with local DJs Nospa, Sifiso, Kotwane and Ash T.

Harris Entertainment, the event organisers, announced that they have swapped their usual December event, the Harris Continental Music Festival, with the Bulawayo Shutdown.

“Bulawayo Shutdown is a name that better reflects the spirit of the show, which now happens twice a year: once in April after the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) and again in December to usher in the new year,” said Jordan Dube, manager of Harris Entertainment.

“We’ve already begun preparations for the December edition of Bulawayo Shutdown. As always, we aim to provide world-class entertainment and so far, we’ve activated 22 artistes from all over the country.”
Harris Entertainment events have previously featured star-studded line-ups with South African artistes, but for this year’s December gig, the focus has shifted to promoting local talent.

“In the past, we’ve leaned towards international acts, but we’ve realised that our local artistes, with their large followings and equally high-calibre music, deserve more attention. This year, we’re bringing in local DJs such as Victor Bravo, Ash T, DJ Kotwane and DJ Sifiso, who specialise in House music and Amapiano,” Dube explained.

Advance-ticket sales will begin today and Dube confirmed they will be rolled out in two phases to ensure broader access.(chronicle)
