No Thierry Henry return

LONDON. — Arsene Wenger says Arsenal great Thierry Henry is not set for another loan spell at the club. The 36-year-old, who is Arsenal’s all-time record goalscorer, has been using the facilities at their London Colney training ground in the past week, as has former midfielder Robert Pires.

And Henry, who now plays with the New York Red Bulls, spent a successful loan stint with Arsenal at the start of 2012, scoring the winner in an FA Cup tie against Leeds and then bagging a stoppage-time goal to secure a victory over Sunderland on his final appearance.

However, Wenger says an encore is not in the pipeline and added that Henry and Pires do not even train with the first team very often.
Wenger told the Arsenal website: “They like to come back to Arsenal, to practise.

“When they can join in, they do. They integrate well with the spirit of the team, nothing more than that.

“They have no real target to bring something, they just want to enjoy themselves and keep their fitness. Usually they don’t practise with the first team, because they come in and work on fitness.

“When we have some room we invite them to play with us but usually they train separately to us.”
No coaching role yet

It has been suggested that Henry will be handed a coaching post at Arsenal at some point but Wenger says nothing is in the pipeline at present. “No, at the moment he is invited just to practise when he wants,” said the manager. — Sky Sports.
