All-female a cappella group Nobuntu is set to make its debut appearance in Australia this month, where the ensemble will stage a series of performances from June 18 to 25.
The tour, running under the theme “Cultural Connect: A Choral Residency”, will be hosted at Ukaria Cultural Centre and will feature a diverse programme including an introductory performance, a closed session with Academy Voices, a public workshop on African singing, a public workshop on African dance, and a combined session with Academy Voices.
The highlight of the residency will be Nobuntu’s full concerts on June 21 and 22 at Ukaria. The group will then make further appearances at Primrose Potter Salon, Melbourne Recital Centre, and Elizabeth Murdock Hall, marking a significant milestone in their global touring calendar.
Speaking to Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, group member Duduzile Sibanda said the group is thrilled about their Australian debut.

“This will be our first time performing in Australia, and we’re super excited. It’s going to be an amazing experience. People can expect good music — a fusion of traditional African harmonies and our original compositions,” said Sibanda.
In addition to the Australian tour, Nobuntu is also gearing up for their annual USA tour in the last quarter of the year. The group is planning a charity concert ahead of their American dates to raise resources for their Pad Bank initiative – a sanitary wear donation project they launched six years ago.
Nobuntu comprises Duduzile Sibanda, Zanele Manhenga, Joyline Sibanda, and Thandeka Moyo — all known for their rich vocals and commitment to promoting African culture through music. — @mthabisi_mthire
