Nollywood controversial actor Muna Obiekwe died on Sunday after succumbing to kidney failure.
According to reports, Obiekwe was rushed to hospital on Sunday afternoon after he collapsed at his home in Lagos.
A close friend and colleague confirmed that Obiekwe had not gone for his routine dialysis treatment for over two weeks before his death.
“Muna needed money for his health problems but instead of going public to raise money, he told friends he was planning a stage play to raise money but died before he could do it,” a source said.
However, a twitter account denied the death although several Nollywood actors confirmed Obiekwe’s death.
AGN president, Ibinabo Fiberesima on Sunday told NET that she could not confirm the reports.
Another popular actor Nonso Diobi, who is said to have been close to the late entertainer, broke the news on social media after posting a picture of the Enugu-based actor in the hospital before his untimely death.
Accompanying the picture, Nonso wrote: “I have just confirmed from AGN president that Muna Obiekwe is truly dead . . . ” while revealing that the twitter handle which purportedly debunked the reports about the actor’s death earlier today as fake.
Meanwhile, actresses Uche Jombo-Rodriguez, Fidelies Duker, Mildred Okwo and others have paid tribute to Obiekwe. -NET.
