AT a youthful age, many up-and-coming artistes have failed to see the light at the end of the tunnel due to lack of funding, but for songstress Noluntu J, it is a different case.
The young musician who turned 21 on Sunday is on her way up the ladder as she is set to launch visuals for her track Hero at the affluent Ster-Kinekor Cinema in Bulawayo, an event that many artistes yearn for as a breakthrough.
The visuals are for the track that features Gwanda’s Zhezhingtonz, laced with Afro-fusion and Tribal House. The song was released sometime in August where it spiced up the country’s celebration of Heroes Day as it did not only honour liberation heroes, but heroes across societies.
Noluntu J said the launch is the start of great things as she has taken it upon herself to self-fund her career in order to grow.
“I’ll be launching the Hero music video at Ster-Kinekor Bulawayo cinemas on December 16. It’s going to be an evening of fashion, music, food and wine.
“We’re expecting some of Bulawayo’s popular faces and we’ll have a few performances that will be out of this world,” she said.
Noluntu J said the video was shot at Hillside Dams by Keaitse Films with the drone shots taken by Brooklyn Films International. Make-up was done by Nokuthula Khumalo with the cast being dressed by Eve-O Sishebo.
Commenting on her double nomination at the Zim Hip Hop Awards, Noluntu J said: “I’m very excited about the Best Alternative and Best Female Nominations on the Pogues Zim Hip Hop Awards. I’ve always wanted to be nominated as a best female artiste so I’m so looking forward to the event.” — @mthabisi_mthire
