IDENTITIES Media has launched ‘The List Awards 2025’, an initiative to honour outstanding citizens making a positive impact in fields ranging from community development and business to arts, science, sports, media and humanitarian work.
Billed as a platform to restore the integrity of recognition in Zimbabwe and across Africa, the awards aspire to the prestige of global honours such as the Oscars.
Organisers say the event is more than a ceremony; it is a movement to spotlight and inspire change-makers whose stories often go unnoticed.
“This initiative is not only about recognition; it is about fostering a culture of appreciation for those who work behind the scenes to make a difference,” said the organisers.
“The power of recognition cannot be understated.”
Nominations for the awards, now extended to August 24, 2025, are open to individuals in Zimbabwe, the Diaspora and across Southern and East Africa.
Categories include the Business Impact Award, Humanitarian Impact Award and Youth Impact Award.
Winners will receive cash prizes and other rewards, with no participation fees charged.
Added the organisers: “When individuals are acknowledged for their hard work and dedication, it serves as a catalyst for further action.”
Examples of eligible nominees include sports coaches shaping young lives, business leaders backing local initiatives and humanitarians alleviating suffering.
By widening the scope beyond national borders, Identities Media said the awards aim to foster regional unity and highlight collective efforts driving social progress.
The organisers have described the List Awards’ model as “disruptive,” challenging traditional recognition systems often seen as elitist.
They said the initiative “democratises acknowledgment,” giving grassroots contributors the same platform as high-profile figures.
Companies and institutions are also invited to partner with the project, aligning their brands with community development and social justice causes.
Organisers say such partnerships not only boost corporate social responsibility profiles, but also strengthen connections with communities.
Nominations can be submitted through the official website.
“The List Awards 2025 is a celebration of the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to improve their communities,” said the organisers.
“By recognising these individuals, the awards aim to inspire a culture of appreciation and action, encouraging others to contribute positively to society.”
