NORMALCY returned to Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo yesterday following an electrical fault that saw the hotel going for close to eight hours without power on Thursday.
An electrical fault in the hotel’s basement sparked a fire that resulted in guests and employees being evacuated.
Cabinet Ministers, business executives and Members of Parliament attending the 2017 pre-budget seminar were among the affected guests.
Rainbow Tourism Group Corporate Communications and Innovations Manager, Ms Pride Khumbula, said everything was back on track.
“The power was restored at 10:30PM last night (Thursday). All the services have been restored to normal and we’ve been constantly communicating with our clients regarding the situation on the ground,” said Ms Khumbula.
One of the three technicians who were fixing the hotel’s substation suffered some burns when his clothes caught fire.
All the three technicians were rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment.
