Northern Region to meet Royal Classic

THE World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league chairman, Willard Manyengavana, has said they are going to engage Royal Classic to map the way forward for their remaining games.
The club failed to fulfil their match against Lake Harvest on Wednesday.

The match was scheduled for Chaminuka in Kariba on Wednesday and Royal Classic failed to travel for the game, which will be awarded to Lake Harvest on a 3-0 scoreline.

They will also be fined for their action.

“Our rules are clear on that, they lost the game on a 3-0 scoreline and there is a fine that goes with that decision.

“This is the first game not to be played. We feel it’s not good for our football especially if you look at the relegation puzzle, Lake Harvest are also not very safe from relegation and it’s not fair to the other teams also fighting relegation for them to just get points.

“We are going to sit down with them (Royal Classic) to make sure that league matches are fulfilled,” said Manyengavana.

Manyengavana said although Royal Classic have been struggling, they have been fulfilling their games until Wednesday.

“It’s unfortunate they did not come to us to discuss the matter and until yesterday (Wednesday) they have been doing well in fulfilling their matches, that’s why we want to sit down with them and see how we can help.

“I hope this is the last time this happens,” said Manyengavana.

Royal Classic director, Ranganai Chatura said most of their players are school children so they could not travel for the mid-week game.

“It was a surprise game for us, we got short notice plus we have school children in our team, so we could not travel.

“It was too far, usually we travel just a few hours before a game and come back on the same day. For the remaining games we will see how we will handle it,” said Chatura.

The Glendale-based side will tomorrow host Starbill at Tsungubvi.
