Norton Town Council has collaborated with the University of Zimbabwe to develop a feasibility study on the establishment of the council’s water treatment plant.

Town secretary Mr Kizito Muhomba told the 296th Ordinary meeting of that council that an assessment of the existing infrastructure was conducted, demonstrating the council’s commitment to establishing its water treatment plant.

He said the water treatment plant will see Norton getting at least 50 megalitres per day, which will greatly improve the town’s water supply situation.

He said the council has acquired four service vehicles and an excavator.

Mr Muhomba said the vehicles include an administrative vehicle for Norton Town Council chairman Councillor Action Mataruse.

“Council anticipates that these vehicles will enhance service delivery in the community and improve revenue collection,” he said.

Mr Muhomba said council received a letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works approving a loan facility for 17 tricycles for councillors.
