A newly formed fishery project, Norton Fish Farm is expected to transform lives of hundreds of women in the town.

Formed in December, the project has brought together nearly 100 women who are part of the first batch of beneficiaries to this progressive income generating project

The group will start harvesting the fish next month from the 13 fish ponds it started with.

The beneficiaries of this project who include victims of gender based violence, widows and youths are elated by this latest development.

Some of the women who spoke to The Herald recently said they were planning to embark on various income generating projects from the fish harvest.

Norton town secretary Mr Tongai Mandude said the project, which they are doing in partnership with Gender Links will improve lives of the women in the area while at the same time increase revenue collection.

A second batch of beneficiaries will be enrolled soon after harvesting of the fish by the first group.
