Mugonapanja once made him raise another man’s child. “Your worship this woman is at it again. The child I thought was my first born was later introduced to her real father when she was about to get married.
“It pains me so much that I looked after that child for 15 years believing she was mine. How can I trust that this other one she wants me to pay maintenance for is really mine? I need paternity tests,” he said.
In response Mugonapanja said she could not comment on the issue of the couple’s first child but only said Mutambu was only trying to evade maintenance.
“He knows that after the first child I had two other children who passed away. Surely this one is his. The child is at his rural home. Why did he take him there if it is not his? He is only trying to evade maintenance,” she said.
Mugonapanja, who is a cross border trader, is claiming US$450 as maintenance for the 10-year-old child. Mutambu refused to offer any money but later agreed to give US$50 pending paternity tests. Magistrate Ms Rebecca Kaviya postponed the matter to today.
