Police are looking for notorious drug dealer Justice Matambanadzo who is wanted for questioning in connection with dealing in dangerous drugs involving thousands of dollars. This followed the arrest of two members of the drug syndicate Bright Shizhika and Eria Mwanza in Harare last week after police raided a hideout in Epworth.
Criminal Investigations Department acting spokesperson Detective Assistant Inspector Portia Chinho said Matambanadzo, who is from Murehwa, was the ringleader and is wanted in connection with several cases of illegal drug dealing.
“The police are appealing to the public with information on the whereabouts of Justice Matambanadzo alias Mandodya or Baba vaJoy to contact CID Drugs Harare on (04)777598 or any nearest Police Station or Detective Assistant Inspector Mateta on 0772899929,” she said.
Detective Asst Insp Chinho said other members of the drug cartel include Matambanadzo’s wife Junicah Chitanda, Edina Chikoore and Elizabeth Kwashi from Magada in Epworth.
Elizabeth was arrested in possession of 150kg of mbanje with a street value of US$1 500.
Another member of the syndicate Cathrine Mungae, who is also Matambanadzo’s girlfriend, was arrested with 71kgs of mbanje and has since been jailed for an effective one and half years.
Police also arrested Matambanadzo’s brother in law Kudakwashe Rombe who was sent by the drug kingpin to bribe police to stop his manhunt.
Police warned the public against providing criminals with hiding places and to report any suspicious people in their neighbourhoods.
